Yuri was born in 1965 in Perme, Russia. As a young child he exhibited strong artistic skills and eventually moved on to graduate with honors from Perme Art College.

From the beginning Yuri has created landscape paintings with and without figures, as well as graphic media. What characterizes his work most is a balance of truth to nature’s effect and solidity in land. From the luminous style of Corot to Daubingy, he combines his masterful techniques to create works that are reminiscent of Monet in the 21st century. Yuri works with passion to convey a landscape of romantic, timeless essence. I like to paint from nature. There is unity of form and content in both my portraits and landscapes. Like the Impressionists, I prefer to paint en plein aire.

Yuri has read the poetry of Wordsworth, which helps him to understand the fundamental visions of Romanticism. His works embody rich, brilliant color, energetic brushwork and pathos of artistic icons.

He has had several successful one-man shows in England, Finland and Russia.
